LED聚光灯s ushered in the age of solid state lighting and although they have been mostly supplanted by LED fixtures and striplights, they remain very popular in certain markets and for use in creating very dramatic presentations of aquarium displays. The Vital Wave 2 is the newest version of the LED spotlight from Eco-Lamps which has been around for a very long time and the two new models introduce a much appreciated feature of wireless control.
Eco-Lamps has managed to cram in a tiny little bluetooth radio so you can at least adjust the intensity and schedule of each light separately from the convenience of your phone. You won’t be getting multichannel fine tuning of the overall color spectrum from an LED spotlight but the new versions of the Vital Wave II include no less than eight different colored spotlights so you can adjust each one to create a truly unique and custom lighting spectrum.
The different versions of the Vital Wave 2 include violet, cyan, green, amber, Sun, chlorophyll and plant spectra as well as a very interesting pure UV lamp with an emission peak of 370nm which is not quite UVB, but it is the highest energy wavelength of UV-A we’ve yet seen available in this kind of light. The new Bluetooth controllable VItal Wave 2 LED spotlight range in price from ¥ 11,660 for the mostly white plant spectrum up to ¥ 14,520 for the deepest blue violet and UVA370 spotlights or around $120 to $145 for each 9 watt spotlight with the UVA flavor topping out at 5 watts.
The Blue Harbor x Eco-Lamps collaboration is currently only available in Japan where the spotlight form factor has been popular ever since the classic era of metal halide lamps.
