As a graduate student at the University of California, Davis Toonen was a member of the reef club before earning his PhD and is now an assistant researcher and biologist at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, Kane’ohe, Hawaii. His current research focuses on the processes that influence dispersal and recruitment in coastal marine invertebrates, with a particular interest in the evolutionary consequences of larval developmental modes among marine invertebrates.
