A recent spate of captive breeding successes, particularly with the Koran angelfishPomacanthus semicirculatus, had us wondering what the next captive bred “Big Angel” would be. Based on what we’re seeing from Bali Aquarich (producers of the first captive-bredPinnatus Batfish), it appears that we can now addPomacanthus annularisto the list of firsts we can attribute to this Indonesia Aquaculture Company. Of course, the above video is hardly conclusive evidence, but read on after the break to see this project start all they way back at Day 7.

The only other group I am aware of who may have beaten Bali Aquarich on this species could be the team at TAL / Rising Tide…perhaps more on that later. For now, it seems to be a race to a captive-bredPomacanthus imperatorbetween probably only a handful of people in this world. Will it happen in 2012? It’s VERY possible.
