Four new species of Eviota gobies from French Polynesia

Four new species ofEviotadwarf gobies have just been described from French Polynesia. Although the new tiny reef fish are probably very beautiful in real life,Alive, all we have to go on is a handful of images of these fish shortly after being preserved for their official description.

Eviotahinanoaeis known from the Gambier, Austral and Society Archipelagos while the other three new gobiesEviotadorsimaculata, E. lacrimosa,&E. deminutawere discovered in the Marquesas Islands. The four newEviotaspecies are part of the 20 new descriptions for the genus in the last four years, bringing the total number of species to around 79 total.
