A lot of people think they have to be divers in order to see the beauty of the ocean realm. But in fact, much of the reef life in the tropics is concentrated in the shallows, especially when we’re talking about reef building stony corals, and the more common and brightly colored reef fish. If you know where to go, you can access the best of the reef simply by snorkeling, if you know where to go, and the Maldives is one of those places.
As you can see, there may be lots of neat and cool fish and corals down deep, but the shallow water is where the most reef building stony corals are found – right where the sunlight is – and you don’t need to dive to see or appreciate it.
