Building an Obsession is a start-up marine aquarium company which earlier this year turned heads with their interesting simple andelegant sump designs, as well as somesophisticated supplement dosing boxes. This time Building an Obsession is back with an incredibly nifty system for transporting copious amounts of coral frags inside relatively small containers.
The basic premise of the BaO frag transporter is a specially conceived frag-holding tray which locks frags into place, but the same locking holes can also be used for interconnecting other frag plates into a multistory of coral frag holding and transporting. Each of BaO’s frag trays can hold a little over 40 frags each, including four holes for locking into the post system, meaning that a small 3 gallon lock-lid tupperware container can pack in as many as 270 coral frags!
We’ve seen how much time the frag farmers spend packing and unpacking their coral frags for the coral farmer markets and other reef aquarium club functions. Some of them have systems locked down to minimize the amount of handling of the corals, but Building an Obsession’s frag transporter system looks a very promising new solutions.
Even if you don’t move coral frags back and forth in large quantities for fun or for a living, we see this transport box as having a wider range of used than for which it was intended. For example this kind of coral transport could be equally useful for bringing corals back from the LFS, or from the events, and it can even double up as a temporary dipping container to make cleansing and parasite removal from our corals a super simple affair.
