The German company has struck a deal with Unique Corals to establish Triton US to let aquarists serious about water testing get water samples tested on a professional system to an accuracy unparalleled with off-the-shelf test kits.
According to the press release, the process is as simple as taking a sample and mailing it to Triton US and have your test back within 10 days. While most aquarists will need immediate results to troubleshoot immediate concerns, the Triton Method is a better judge of overall system and allow you to test for a wide range of elements to better understand and dial in your water treatment regimen.

Developed over several years at his facility in Dusseldorf, Germany, Triton Labs founder, Ehsan Dashti has developed customized protocols to utilize Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emmission Spectrometry analysis (ICP-OES) to literally rip molecules apart with plasma that is heated to 10,000 degrees Kelvin for analysis.
The ICP-OES machine has been adapted by Ehsan to test seawater for the ultimate in accuracy. Water is tested for precise concentrations of lesser known elements found in seawater that are either essential and missing, or detrimental and building up to high levels in the aquarium. The elements being tested for include Na, Ca, Mg, K, Sr, B, Br, S, Li, Be, Ba, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Al, Si, As, Sb, Sn, Cd, Se, Mo, Hg, P (PO4), Pb, I.
The results provide reefers with the most detailed analysis of marine aquarium water ever available at the hobby level, enabling reefers to understand exactly what’s missing, what’s excessive, and what to do about it. The procedure is very simple: The aquarist takes a sample of his/her aquarium water, registers with Triton online, and returns the sample to Triton U.S. in a provided postage paid envelope. The results of Triton Reef’s testing are reported back online in a simple, easy-to-understand format within 10 days of sample collection.
