It cannot be overstated enough that in addition to providing a good physical and chemical environment for our corals, the most important thing we can do to keep healthy corals is properly feeding them. When diving a wild coral reef you often see a super wide range of corals from the depths to the shallows and they’re all there catching light and hoping for food.
We decide it would be very fun to demonstrate various coral feeding techniques on a natural reef where it’s impossible to ‘turn down the flow’ but you also can’t technically overfeed the reef either. Using onlyPolyp Lab Reef Roidsand Two Little Fishies’ Julian’s Thing, we zip tied the whole contraption together in the bush of Papua New Guinea for one heckuva coral feeding video.
The main takeaway is that you should really soak your Reef Roids, and all other coral foods, for some period of time before using. Also, target feeding is a fun, effective way to ensure your corals get as much of the food as possible while minimizing what ends up as nutrients in your aquarium water.
