For as long as Reef Builders has been around, we’ve done our best to bridge the gap between aquarium corals and wild corals and the natural reefs they come from. This includes bringing you ‘aquaristic‘野珊瑚的图像,habitat reports on particular species, and one of our favorite exercises is feeding wild corals.
Two years ago we released our first video offeeding wild corals on the reefs of Papua New Guinea和we’re back at it with a new adventure from neighboring Solomon Islands. That first production was all completely new and we had no idea how it was going to work out butso manyof you told us how much you enjoyed that video and how it brings us reefers closer to the reef in a familiar and intimate way, so we went and made another one.
With support fromPolyp Labwe returned to Solomon Islands and found a perfect reef on which to repeat our wild coral feeding shenanigans. With the sameJulian’s Thingstrapped to a new camera, new housing, and much brighter lights, we have an even better video image of what it’s like to feed wild corals while diving, and the different ways that ocean-living corals respond.
These videos come at a great time because reefers a chance to check out these Melanesian corals beforeSolomon Farmed Corals和巴布新几内亚reef lifereenters the aquarium hobby later this year. We want to thank all of our guides on the island-hopping trips through the Solomon Islands, Polyp Lab for supporting this video and everyone who personally told us how much they enjoyed the previous video – who knows where we’ll be diving next and have some time to make another fun video of feeding wild corals.
