With ‘stick forests. dominating much of the reef scene, it is always a welcome change to see a nice softy reef like theJapanese style reefscapeand this one from Thailand. The tank above is one of the show tanks of the Siam Reef Club, in Thailand, and yes the Siam Reef Club has an actual building/lounge where they talk fish along with club reefs tanks. The Siam softy reef measures 60x30x30 inches for a total volume of 233 gallons.
The sump of the Siam Softy reef is 90 gallons, measuring 48x24x18 inches. Filtration is provided by a Deltec 851 skimmer along with a refugium with miracle mud and various macro algae. Beside Prodibio Biodigest and Prodibio Bioptim nothing is dosed to the tank, frequent water changes keeping parameters in check. This softy reef is lit by a combination of 8 VHO fluorescents and a five footec0-lamps KR92LED fixture. Flow is provided by two tunze wave boxes along with an Iwaki RT-100 serving as a return.
